1. How do I tune in?
There are many ways of tuning into Times New Radio. The piece of software which we recommend is Winamp, which can be downloaded for free. If you have Windows Media Player on your PC, you can listen to us via that too. To tune in, just click here, and choose your preferred piece of software, and the stream of your choice.
2. How/why was Times New Radio created?
After the close of GameOn-Radio in early 2005, some of the admins (including the owner Mingle, Flexy, James, and others) decided that they wanted to embark on a new venture. The plan was to create a fun Internet community, where listeners could interact with the DJ's, and generally have fun.
A lot of planning went into this, and we finally created the website in late 2005. Broadcasting began on *19th Febuary 2006*, and we have been serving the public ever since.
We're constantly trying to think of new and innovative ways to entertain/interact with our listeners. We don't want to be "just another radio station!"
3. I would like to DJ for Times New Radio. What steps do I need to take?
Before going any further, please bear in mind that Times New Radio are only looking for DJs with good knowledge of Shoutcast, and a certain level of skill. The first step in becoming a part of our team is to post a message in the allocated section of the forums. We will then contact you to arrange a trial. The trial process involves you actually DJing on a test stream, to an audience of selected admins. We will then decide if you meet the required standard to become part of the Times New Radio team.
4. How is Times New Radio funded?
Times New Radio is not a business, and is therefore a non-profit organization. Any revenue generated from advertising or affiliation will go to improving the station. Currently, the station is owned and funded by Jonathan Burrell (Mingle). Costs include the server and website development. Running an Internet radio broadcast is not cheap!
5. How do I interact with the DJs and listeners?
There are two ways of interacting with the DJs and listeners of Times New Radio. The first is our live chat facility, which allows realtime chat with any DJ or listener who happens to be online. The alternative to our live chat is the forums. In order to post on the forums, you must first register (for free). Registration only takes a couple of minutes, and you only have to do it once. After you are registered, there are a variety of different categories which you can post in. This is probably the best way to communicate with our DJs, because the forums are accessible at any time, and messages are permanent. Therefore, you are able to leave messages for the DJs, even when they are not online.
6. Why is your slogan "Keeping with the Times"?
Basically, the idea for Times New Radio is to be modern, fresh, and innovative. Consequently, we decided on the slogan "Keeping With the Times".
7.
8. Why is there no number seven?
James and Mingle both agree that we should leave number seven out, because in the Sonic The Hedgehog series of video games, there are seven mystical Chaos Emeralds scattered in special stages, that contain inexhaustible energy. We wanted you to know that nugget of information, because we love you, and Sonic rocked.
9. Who designed this website?
This website was designed by James Gzowski. However, what you are reading now, and a lot of the other text on the site was written by James and Mingle.
10. I would like to request a song or shoutout. What do I do?
First of all, you will need to enter our chat room. Once there, you can ask the DJ nicely to do a shout out or request. Bear in mind, some DJs do have rules with regards to requests, and also please remember requests are not demands!
11. Where are the DJs based?
Currently, all of our DJs are based within the United Kingdom. | |
